The Kotilingeshwara Temple situated in Kammasandra Village in the District of Kolar, Karnataka. The Temple is extremely famous for it’s Largest and Tallest Shivalinga present in the World. The Name Kotilingeshwara where “Koti” means Crore(10 million), Nearly crores of Shivalingas (Idols) are installed in the premises; hence the temple name is Kotilingeshwara Temple .

As per the temple priests there are more than 90 lakh shiva lingas are installed in the temple. There is a tree in the center of the temple in which devotees tie wish thread for any wishes they have. Couples also tie thread for happy married life and baby. when their wishes get fulfilled they donate shiva lingas to the temple in their name. So you can find Shiva Lingas ranges from height of 1 ft to 3 ft here.

How to reach Kotilingeshwara Temple from Bangalore :

Distance from Bangalore to Kotilingeshwara Temple is about 96 kms. by road (NH75). You can travel by Bus or Cab or personal vehicle. To visit the place one have to spend whole day. So basically it’s a one day trip.

Famous Festival : Mahashivaratri is the most famous festival of Lord Shiva and here more than 2 lakh devotees come for worshiping Lord Mahadev.

 Swamy Sambha Shivamurthy installed the first Lingam in 1980. After that in some years lakhs of Lingam were installed in the near by area. The temple is spread across 15 acres of area. There is a Huge Linga of height 108 ft tall (33m) and a huge Nandi idol of height 35ft (11m). Lord Nandi idol is installed over a platform of 60 ft (18m) in length 40ft(12m) width and 4 ft (1.2m) height.This is one of it’s kind of idol of Lord Nandi along with Shivalinga in whole world.

Here you can pour water on shiva linga and other idols and do abhisekam

11 small temples constructed for various dieties . The temples include Goddess Annapoorneshwari Temple, Goddess Karumaari Amma Temple, Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmana Temple, Lord Panchamukha Ganapathy Temple, Goddess Kannika Parameshwari Temple, Lord Venkataramani Swamy Temple, Lord Panduranga Swamy Temple, Lord Anjaneya Temple, Lord shanischara Temple etc. There is a temple dedicated for Tridev Lord Brahma , Lord Vishnu and Lord Mahadev.
